Services

What services we provide?

BMECSS provides culturally appropriate, fully accessible service to all BME Carers and their families in North London and Hertfordshire irrespective of their race, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, age and sexuality.

The Community Income Project

The community income project aims to increase household income by providing Benefit information advice, help in form completion, and advocacy service. This project is funded by ABG (Area Base Grants).

If you would like to find out whether you are receiving all the benefits to which you or members of your family may be entitled, then please contact Black & Minority Ethnic Carers' Support Service to find out more. We organise advice and information sessions each week regarding Benefit Entitlements. Sessions are provided by  specialist advisors.

The BME Sitting Service

We provide free of charge culturally appropriate home based  sitting service to Black & Minority Ethnic carers. If you are a carer or know of a carer who would like to take a break from caring, please contact us to discuss your needs and the service. An initial assessment meeting will be arranged as soon as possible to see how we can provide the best service for you.

Sitters are trained people from BME communities who understand the culture and language of the family or person they are providing the service. They are CRB checked and are on our register.

 Support Groups for BME Carers

We deliver monthly support group meetings to encourage BME carers to learn from each other's experiences, share their concerns, frustrations and daily challenges. In these meetings, carers receive information and express their feelings to people in similar circumstances. Speakers relevant to the needs of BME carers are also invited to inform the carers of the support available in their caring role and developments taking place in the field of health and social care in North London.

BME Carers Assessment

BMECSS provide assessment for BME carers which is then given to social services to decide what help to provide the carers.
